Oeko-Tex Standard 100 is an international product testing system for textiles. It has four product classes, which differ in the amount of residual chemicals they permit.
The Class I standard, which is the strictest, specifies very low limit values for, among other things:
- formaldehyde (can cause allergies and was added by the US to the list of carcinogens)
- heavy metals (can cause eczema and damage internal organs and the central nervous system)
- esticides (can affect the nervous system, internal organs and fertility)
- aromatic hydrocarbons (perfume allergies and disorders of the nervous system)
It is permitted that duvets and pillows for adults are in Class 2, but Ringsted Dun has chosen to certify oll of their products in accordance with the strictest requirements for Class 1. Ringsted Dun was one of the first quilt manufacturers in the world to be certified to the internationally-recognized Oeko-Tex Standard. All of our European duvet covers also carry the Oeko-Tex certification
The NOMITE label is the consumer’s guarantee that the down product cannot contain house dust mites. The fabric is woven so tightly that neither house dust mites themselves nor their food, flakes of human skin, can penetrate it.
Contrary to all the myths, down and feathers very seldom cause allergic reactions. The culprit is usually the house dust mite. People who are allergic to house dust mites can therefore safely buy our NOMITE certified down products.
Down products are washable at 140°F / 60°C, at which temperature house dust mites are killed.
The rest is up to you: washing bed linen, cleaning and thorough airing will turn the lives of your unwanted guests to misery.

Did you know that down and feathers can be labeled in three classes under the EN 12934 standard? RINGSTED only uses new down and feathers of the highest quality (Class I). The other two classes are for inferior qualities. IF there is no information on "class", therefore, the product in question might be Class III. Class III permits the use of more than 15% recycled down/feathers from old products that other people have slept in.

GOTS - Global Organic Textile Standard
When you see this certificate in combination with our DUVET COVERS, it means that the product carries the prestigious GOTS-label.
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the world's leading textile processing standard for organic fibers, including ecological and social criteria, backed by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain. The aim of the standard is to define globally recognized requirements that ensure the organic status of textiles, from harvesting of the raw materials through environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing all the way to labeling in order to provide credible assurance to the end consumer. Textile processors and manufacturers should be able to export their organic fabrics and garments with one certification accepted in all major markets.
The consensus of the International Working Group was that a clear and unambiguous understanding of the content required the Global Organic Textile Standard itself to focus on compulsory criteria only. The standard covers the processing, manufacturing, packaging, labeling, trading and distribution of all textiles made from at least 70% certified organic natural fibers. The final products may include but are not limited to: fibre products, yarns, fabrics, clothes and home textiles.
Member of amfori BSCI: Ringsted Dun has its own employee initiatives, and additionally is a member of amfori BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative). It is the European system for monitoring and controlling the ethics and social responsibility of the company, and is a European collaboration for the improvement of the social environment and the reduction of environmental impact.
Ringsted Dun does actively participate in combating child labor, discrimination, forced labor and ensures that requirements for minimum pay and work conditions are complied with.
Ringsted Dun is the only manufacturers of duvets and pillows in Northern Europe to have our own EDFA-certified laboratory.
The company carries out random tests on all consignments of down and feathers in accordance with EN standards. In this way, Ringsted Dun checks whether all down and feathers do, indeed, originate from geese and duck, while also accurately determining their quality. This random testing means that they are able to grade the stuffing and thus create different qualities, which enables the manufacturer to vary its duvets and pillows in accordance to their degree of insulation and fill power.
When you see this certification, it means that the product has been manufactured in an environmentally friendly facility under safe and socially responsible work conditions:
